For an art lover like me, I am always on the lookout for the next best thing or artworks that are created with so much love and detail that makes an impact on me.
I met Nix Puno at an art gallery and was really impressed with his works, his attention to detail in creating portraits in a very small scale takes skill and pure talent. I immediately asked him to do a portrait of Ayen, which I gave to her last Christmas. The final work is outstanding as you can see below. He captured her essence, and according to Ayen, it is one of her favorite portraits ever.
I had always wanted to have a portrait of my Mom done that I was going to keep in my home, when I decided to ask Nix to do it, my Mom was still alive and I was so excited to show it to her after it was done, cause I used one of her favorite photos of herself as the inspiration for the portrait. The photo was taken in 1970 during her modeling days.
The original photo is still her profile picture in Facebook and Instagram.
Mom was never able to see the completed work cause God had other plans for Mom and called her back to Heaven before the portrait was finished.
Oh you are so beautiful Mom!
