How To Make Your Old Clothes Look New Again

Washing my old clothes with the new Ariel Instashine

Here are some fun facts about me.

  1. I am a very sentimental person.

I try to keep things that hold a special meaning to me at every milestone in my life.

2. I love doing laundry

Yes you heard it right. I find it therapeutic washing my clothes.

I discovered the love for doing laundry when I lived on my own in Japan for 5 ½ years.  I went to college there and I had to do everything on my own. I learned a lot of things the hard way such as never mix colored stuff when washing your clothes.  You can just imagine the look on my face when I mixed my red and white shirts in the washer, I had quite a number of pink shirts and socks after.

When I got married and had kids, we would go on vacation for as long as two months in the U.S. and during that time I would do the laundry for everybody, which brings me joy.

I am a very practical person, I don’t buy a lot of clothes but I always get timeless clothing with excellent quality. What I discovered through the years is that due to constant washing the colors of my favorite clothes would fade and eventually look old and unappealing, which would frustrate me lot.

I also have clothes that hold a special meaning to me such as this particular white polo shirt made by a dear friend of mine, designer JC Buendia who provided my wardrobe when I started my career in ABS-CBN in the hit TV show Keep On Dancing back in 1998.

I restored my 21 year-old shirt that I used in Keep On Dancing way back in 1998 with the all new Ariel Instashine

I wore this specific white polo shirt a lot cause it was comfortable enough for me to dance with and still look good after. Since I used it a lot, it was only natural for the neckline and the under arm area to turn yellow due to the sweat, make-up and dirt it accumulated over the years.

I washed my 11 year-old white polo that I used in the musical Isang Panaginip Na Fili in 2008 with Ariel Instashine and now it looks and feels new again!

The same thing happened to one of my tuxedo shirts made again by JC Buendia, which I wore to one of the most memorable musicals I have ever done, Isang Panaginip Na Fili, where I played the role of Jose “Pepe” Rizal in 2008 for Dulaang UP.  After all these years no matter how I had it washed over and over again the stains would not go away.  I still kept it in my closet as the shirt symbolized a turning point in my career, a year after I won the Aliw Award for Best Actor in a Musical for that role.

I have been searching for that one product that would make those two shirts and the rest of my favorite old clothes look new again.  I discovered Ariel Instashine. I tried and tested it myself and washed both my favorite white polo shirts to see if it really works.
