One of the things I love about Jo Malone is that each fragrance is created to be worn alone or layered with another to give you that unique scent. The fact is not one person can have the same scent as you even if you both use the same perfume. It all depends on how your body chemistry reacts to the specific perfume you use.
As a person who always loves to smell good, I take the time to try different combinations to find out which scents fit me the best. There is no wrong way to do it, it’s all about spraying it on, layering it, and mixing it up.
If you can’t decide on what scent you like, go to the nearest Jo Malone boutique and ask the friendly staff to help you. They are trained to explain and assist you in creating that unique scent especially for you.
Through the years of using Jo Malone, I have discovered a combination that works for me. Let me share with you how I created my own scents with Jo Malone.
Step 1
I use Jo Malone’s Lime Basil Mandarin or Grapefruit Body Wash when I take a shower as a base. I love citrus scents so I use these two alternately depending on my mood for the day.
Step 2
I sparingly use Lime Basil & Mandarin or Basil & Neroli Body Crème and spread it on the key points of my body, which are my arms, elbows, neck, my torso and when I can reach my back I put some there as well.
The reason for this is that applying Body Crème on your body before spraying the cologne makes the scent last longer on you.
I also discovered the rich aroma of the English Pear & Freesia Body Lotion. I love using this when I go out at night. I layer it with whatever cologne I feel using that evening.
Step 3
Spray away with whatever cologne you feel like using. I love Lime Basil & Mandarin, Grapefruit all through out the day. I either use just one or combine two or sometimes use three at the same time.
What gives it an extra boost is when I use Dark Amber & Ginger Lily from the Cologne Intense line. My wife loves it when I layer this scent at night. Enriched with amber and black orchid mixed with black cardamom, ginger and water lily makes this the perfect ending to my Jo Malone ritual.
I recently tried the new scents of Jo Malone – English Oak & Hazelnut and English Oak & Red Currant. All I can say is it was love at first whiff.
As what I said earlier, these scents were the ones that fit me and was the perfect combination with my body chemistry. I suggest you go and try your own concoction. It is so much fun to create your own scent with Jo Malone. Just follow the three basic steps and you will discover how beautiful your world can smell.
As what they say in Jo Malone, “Play. Combine. Mix it up. Create.”
