I recently got back from Bangkok, Thailand where I attended the South East Asian launch of the newest product of Dyson, the V8 Carbon Fibre cord-free vacuum. First of all let me tell you how honoured I am to be chosen as one of the members of the Philippine contingent that got to see this fine piece of technology for the first time.

My wife and I have been Dyson users ever since we bought the Air Multiplier, the world’s first bladeless fan. Since then we have been getting almost every new product they have released in the country. The product that impressed me the most back then was the Dyson DC74 cord-free vacuum cleaner. I was just blown away with the ingenuity of that product, imagine a vacuum cleaner that you can carry and use anywhere in the house without worrying about being entangled or constricted with its cord.

Trying out the V8 Carbon Fibre at the Rockademy in Bangkok during its launch was a phenomenal experience. I had the pleasure of meeting Sam Twist (Head Engineer Floorcare category) and Martyn Davies (Dyson’s General Manager for Southeast Asia) who introduced the product to us. After the presentation we were given free reign to mess up the place by putting various kinds of dirt on all types of surfaces such as the floor, carpet, on top of the bed, desk and even on the shelves to test the power of the machine with the use of the re-engineered Carbon Fibre Brush Bar. I even accidentally put some debris on my shoes and by pulling the soft trigger it all went away.

The stiff nylon bristles are used to remove ground-in dirt and pet hair that are deeply embedded into the carpet pule, while the soft carbon fibre filaments are used to remove fine dust from hard floors which made me fall in love with the product even more.

Sam Twist shows how the V8 Carbon Fibre is ergonomically balanced. The motor and battery positions ensure centre of gravity is in-line with the hand grip. The whole machine feels lighter when lifting for high up cleaning and in handheld mode.   Photo courtesy of Dyson

The cleanliness of our home is of utmost importance specially now that we have a new baby (Lucia). We try as much as possible to keep her environment clean and allergen free. After testing the product I can truly say that it will definitely do its job in keeping my home clean alongside the Dyson Pure Cool Air Purifier which I believe is the perfect combination.

Everything about the V8 Carbon Fibre is simply amazing. I think I just found my new best friend.

Sam Twist accidentally left this on the floor while doing his demo. Can you imagine the top secrets that are in this notebook.
