I was recently invited to an intimate gathering at the Vera Wang boutique at Rockwell 8 in Makati to welcome the newest member of their team Michi Calica – Sotto their very own Bride Specialist and see the 2019 collection up close and personal.

I first met Michi in 1997, an accomplished fashion designer known for her classic and elegant designs. She brings in her expertise in fashion and a treasure throve of knowledge to serve as mentor to Vera Wang’s bridal consultants and a friend to the brides. Her bubbly personality and happy disposition in life will truly help the brides and their families calm their nerves and find that one or two gowns they will walk down the aisle in on their special day and party all night long.

I was given a tour of the boutique and a look at their newest collection including some iconic pieces such as the gown worn by Kate Hudson in the movie Bride Wars.

I could not help but feel a bit sentimental, you see having four daughters, I can’t imagine how I would feel walking down the aisle to give them away in marriage.

Photographer Ryan Ong captured an unguarded moment when I suddenly thought of my four daughters getting married one day!

As you can see in some of the photos, photographer Ryan Ong captured an unguarded moment where I had that look of melancholy. Well I don’t have to worry about that for now though ahahahaha.

On a serious note, it was an afternoon well spent though I did not get to eat since I am doing IF (Intermittent Fasting) I was able to enjoy my time catching up with old friends who I have not seen in awhile and meeting new ones like Valerie Villar Zayco, Managing Partner of Vera Wang in Manila. The gathering also served as her bienvenida since she recently moved back to the country with her husband Paco and their son after living in Singapore for a number of years.Thank you Michi and Valerie for having me over. Congratulations too on your partnership!
