Since my blog went live last November, I had always thought about launching it in a unique way, I just didn’t know how. I put it on hold since so many things happened during the latter part of 2017, Ayen gave birth to Lucia, I was doing A Christmas Carol The Musical and well it was the busiest time for everybody as the Christmas rush was in full speed.
On the first week of 2018, my friend Tedrick Yau offered to host a dinner at the Viking Range Showroom in Westgate Alabang to launch my blog. It was the perfect venue since I originally wanted to have a series of parties for the launch and keep it small so that I can really talk to everybody and enjoy my time with them.
An intimate gathering of good friends eating amazing food with no holds barred conversations is the perfect way to launch my passion project francolaurel.com.
What made the evening extra special was the gastronomical feast prepared by renowned chef Chele Gonzalez who made full use of Viking’s extensive line of appliances. Everything was so good that we all asked for second servings of each dish. Talk about FOOD TRIP!
Our five-course menu consisted of Mussels & Lengua Croquetas, Jamon Iberico on Ciabatta, Paella Negra, Prime Wagyu Beef Sour Ribs with Soyamansi, Onion, Garlic Caein & Talinum and Rhubarb & Raspberry Tart with Bluch Cheese Ice Cream.
I am so grateful to my wife Ayen, Joanna and Raul Francisco, Ana and JayJay De Ocampo, JC Buendia, Mia Rocha-Lauchengco, Tweetie de Leon – Gonzalez, Mikaela Lagdameo – Martinez, Tedrick, Chef Chele and his team and Viking for an unforgettable and special evening.
